We want to introduce you to our ingredients, full of purpose and purity.
Our organic, non-GMO turmeric comes straight from India, and is our star ingredient. So much so that we created an entire Turmeric 101 page for it, so we didn't dominate this one.
Grass-fed Collagen Hydrolysate
Our grass-fed, pasture-finished, non-GMO collagen hydrolysate is the highest quality for the best delivery of amino acids to your body. It's also cold-soluble, so it's perfect to shake up an iced golden latte!
Ingesting collagen helps support your body's own production of collagen (that slows with age, affecting our bodies ability to support our soft tissue [ligaments, tendons, joints, skin, nails, etc]). Daily supplementation of collagen has been proven to improve skin and joint conditions. Two of the amino acids in collagen, glutamine and glycine, help prevent inflammation of the gut wall and help heal leaky gut issues by decreasing inflammation of the gut. And your gut health is directly correlated with your immunity, skin health, energy, and many of your bodily functions. SO. Collagen tag-teaming with Turmeric really is the anti-inflammatory dream team.
Coconut Milk Powder
Turmeric is fat-soluble, and our coconut milk powder contains MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) fatty acids and lauric acid, another antimicrobial fatty acid, to help boost your immunity.
Not all coconut milk powders are the same. Some aren't even dairy free, because they have casein in them! Did you know that it is impossible to have 100% pure coconut milk powder? That is because the moisture and consistency of the powder would form a brick and spoil quickly from the moisture making mold, so we chose the best kind with the closest to 100% coconut milk powder that exists. Ours includes natural acacia fiber and non-GMO yuca root (cassava root) derived maltodextrin to keep things dry and fresh.
FYI, our nutrition label on our packaging does not list the acacia fiber and maltodextrin as they are cumulatively less than 0.001% of our blend and GRAS ingredients (and our tin has limited real estate for text!) but we wanted to share them with you here because we value transparency.
We talked about the importance of black pepper's key compound, piperine, to the absorption of turmeric over on our Turmeric 101 page, but just to reiterate-- it increases absorption of turmeric by 2000%. Never leave us, black pepper! We also chose to finely grind our black pepper because who wants gritty chunks of peppercorns on the bottom of their latte?
Not only does cinnamon smell and taste divine in our blend, it also helps stabilize blood sugar. Taste and performance, that's what we are about!
Ginger is also a part of the anti-inflammatory gang, aids in digestion, helps with nausea, and packs in the antioxidants. Plus, it's a little fiery kick for our fuel.
Cardamom acts similarly to ginger in the digestion department, helping with bloating as well. Like turmeric, it has also been proven to inhibit cancer cell growth.
Madagascar Vanilla Bean Powder
Okay, we put this one in because it just makes our blend all the more delicious. Then it was like divine coincidence when we discovered vanillin, the compound in vanilla beans, also reduce inflammation, particularly in the liver. We don't use that much of it, but hey, we'll take it.
Pink Himalayan Salt
While this is a taste balancer for a pleasant finishing note of our flavors, pink Himalayan salt contains 84 minerals. Nope, not a typo-- 84 is correct! With all the changed farming practices these days with our produce grown in soil that lacks minerals, pink Himalayan salt is a great way to get those minerals and electrolytes necessary for hydration.
Things we don't have and don't miss
We know. The coconut sugar, honey powders, and sweeteners (we're looking at you, Stevia) tends to make things tastier. But when you're looking for serious functional benefit? It's a bit backwards.
In fact, it feels a lot like getting a salad, then loading it up with fried toppings and bottled dressing. Or a deep-frying an avocado. Good intentions, but kind of counter-productive in the end.
No guar gums or emulsifiers in our blend. Our blend in a golden mylk or latte will have spice sediment that naturally settles at the bottom if it sits for awhile. But that's what should happen to sediment-- we much prefer having to give our drink a quick stir than to drink up gummy emulsifiers, thank you!
